These
fully prepared goatskin are cut into circular
disks are ready to fit to any drum. With a prepared
goat skin and a bit of patience anyone is capable of
re-skinning a Djembe, Ashiko, Bodhran or any other goatskin
drum.
Two styles and various sizes available:
Vellum style (no hair); is
naturally cured, shaved to remove the hair and stretched. The skin is
very thin +/-0.5mm. Use this skin if you are new to re-skinning a Djembe or need the drum to sound good straight away. This skin is inclined to produce crisper high notes but slightly less bass. These skins are also suitable for using as vellum - lamp shades, scrolls, etc.
Natural style (with hair); is naturally cured
but the hair has not been removed.The skin is quite thick. Use this skin if you have experience in re-skinning a Djembe or want a deeper bass. This skin will need a fair amount of tuning until before it settles in.
